چکیده
Sporotrichosis is a fungal infection caused by Sporothrix species, with brasiliensis as prevalent pathogen in Latin America. Despite its clinical importance, the virulence factors of S. and their impact on pathogenesis sporotrichosis are still poorly understood. This study evaluated morphostructural plasticity brasiliensis, fungus that causes sporotrichosis. Three cell surface characteristics, namely hydrophobicity, Zeta potential, conductance, were assessed. Biofilm formation was also analyzed, measurements taken for biomass, extracellular matrix, metabolic activity. In addition, other potential studied characteristics correlated such lipid bodies, chitin, size evaluated. The results revealed major phenotsypic features associated strains conductance. dendrogram clustered based overall similarity production these factors. Correlation analyses showed hydrophobicity strongly linked to biomass while there weaker association between size, bodies chitin. provides valuable insights into role

TO THE EDITOR—The metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro is hyperendemic for catassociated sporotrichosis, and Sporothrix brasiliensis has been implicated in the majority of cases in this region. A unique clinical profile has been characterized by disseminated cases in nonimmunosuppressed patients, hypersensitivity reactions, and an increase in the number of patients with human immunodeficiency ...
متن کاملExploring virulence and immunogenicity in the emerging pathogen Sporothrix brasiliensis
Sporotrichosis is a polymorphic chronic infection of humans and animals classically acquired after traumatic inoculation with soil and plant material contaminated with Sporothrix spp. propagules. An alternative and successful route of transmission is bites and scratches from diseased cats, through which Sporothrix yeasts are inoculated into mammalian tissue. The development of a murine model of...

Sporotrichosis, which is caused by the dimorphic fungus Sporothrix schenckii, is currently distributed throughout the world, especially in tropical and subtropical zones. Infection generally occurs by traumatic inoculation of soil, plants, and organic matter contaminated with the fungus. Certain leisure and occupational activities, such as floriculture, agriculture, mining, and wood exploitatio...
متن کاملDifferences in Cell Morphometry, Cell Wall Topography and Gp70 Expression Correlate with the Virulence of Sporothrix brasiliensis Clinical Isolates
Sporotrichosis is a chronic infectious disease affecting both humans and animals. For many years, this subcutaneous mycosis had been attributed to a single etiological agent; however, it is now known that this taxon consists of a complex of at least four pathogenic species, including Sporothrix schenckii and Sporothrix brasiliensis. Gp70 was previously shown to be an important antigen and adhes...
متن کاملPhenotypic Characteristics Associated with Virulence of Clinical Isolates from the Sporothrix Complex
The Sporothrix complex members cause sporotrichosis, a subcutaneous mycosis with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. Several specific phenotypic characteristics are associated with virulence in many fungi, but studies in this field involving the Sporothrix complex species are scarce. Melanization, thermotolerance, and production of proteases, catalase, and urease were investigated in 61...
